England’s dense enough that your “local” RF environment changes every few miles — so treat this as a starter conversation, not a master list.

London / South East

Lots of amateur activity and networked digital voice. Learn your nearest GB3/GB7 from ukrepeater.net, note CTCSS/colour codes, and keep BrandMeister courtesy in mind (2350 → chat groups). Noise floor in central areas can be brutal on handheld whips — height and a cleaner antenna help more than cranking squelch.

Midlands

Good mix of analogue repeaters and digital. Worth watching club nets and documenting place + county carefully when you add frequencies here so the database stays useful for people fifty miles away.

How to contribute useful logs (legal hobby stuff)

  • Amateur / broadcast / clearly public hobby signals only
  • Frequency, mode, tone/CC/TG if digital, location, date last heard
  • No private service traffic, no “interesting emergency clip”

If you’re in the North, South West, East Anglia, etc. — reply with your corner and what you’re hearing on the amateur side. Let’s make the England board actually local.
