For anyone filling Add frequency with digital fields, here’s the UK BrandMeister mental model I use.
Talkgroups that matter day-to-day
- 2350 — UK centre of activity (keep overs short; long QSOs QSY)
- 2351 / 2352 / 2353 — chat groups for longer conversations
- Always double-check live lists (BrandMeister wiki / pistar.uk) because labels move
What to store on Cross Reference UK
When you submit or edit a DMR listing, please try to include:
- Frequency (MHz) + mode = DMR (or Fusion where relevant)
- Colour code
- Timeslot if you know it
- Talkgroup (TG ID) + TG name if known
- Radio ID only when it’s a useful public/network reference — not someone else’s private ID pasted for laughs
- Place / county / lat-lng if it’s a repeater you can responsibly document from public keeper data (ukrepeater.net)
Hotspot vs repeater
Hotspots are brilliant for learning DMR at home with low power, but they’re not a free-for-all: valid DMR ID, BrandMeister Selfcare password, and band-plan sense still apply. Repeaters are shared infrastructure — listen first, get colour code / slot right, don’t monopolise 2350.
If you’ve got a favourite UK digital box worth documenting properly, drop the details (or use Add frequency) and we’ll grow the DB the right way.
