Northern Ireland is compact but the RF picture still changes quickly between Belfast, the coasts, and country. Use this thread as a friendly start, not a finished database.

Belfast & surrounds

Amateur repeaters and digital voice are the sensible first stop. Check ukrepeater.net for output, offset, and CTCSS/colour code. Urban noise floors can be ugly on a stock whip — height and a quieter antenna help more than cranking the volume.

Coasts & country

Paths can be surprisingly long over water and surprisingly short over hills. Log place + county, mode, and tone. If it’s DMR, include talkgroup/colour code when you know them from public keeper data.

Keep it lawful

Hobby / amateur / licensed broadcast only. Don’t post private traffic. If your radio can transmit, leave TX off unless you hold the right licence and you’re on authorised frequencies.

Reply with your area and kit — even a short “listening around [town] on 2m/70cm” helps the next person.
