Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) turned UK VHF/UHF into a networked hobby: local repeaters and low-power hotspots feed national and worldwide talkgroups. For Cross Reference UK, BrandMeister is the busiest public DMR fabric newcomers hear about first.

Short QSOs are fine; longer chats should move to mutual groups such as 2351, 2352 or 2353. Always verify live labels (e.g. pistar.uk talkgroup list) before publishing a codeplug tip.
IDs, passwords, UK master
- UK Mobile Country Codes used in CCS7-style IDs are 234 / 235. IDs come via the amateur RadioID ecosystem (radioid.net), not Ofcom.
- You need a valid DMR ID to use BrandMeister via repeater or hotspot.
- Set a personal password in BrandMeister Selfcare — don’t rely on old open defaults.
- Cross-check hotspot simplex ideas against the current RSGB band plan and ukrepeater.net / ETCC so you don’t park on coordinated activity.
RAYNET and private DMR
RAYNET-UK provides voluntary community/emergency support communications. Member DMR infrastructure is not the same as casual public BrandMeister ragchews — operational RAYNET traffic belongs on authorised RAYNET channels.
Licence reminder
Listening to amateur digital voice with a receive-capable radio is hobby radio. Transmitting on DMR talkgroups requires a valid Ofcom amateur licence, correct ID, and adherence to licence conditions.
